National HIV Testing Day Event

Greene County Public Health officials have announced a partnership with Walgreens in Xenia to provide free rapid testing for HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis C on June 26, in observance of National HIV Testing Day (NHTD).

On Friday, June 26 from 10:00 am-4:00 pm, Greene County Public Health professionals will have the mobile unit at the Walgreens located at 537 W. Main Street in Xenia to provide confidential HIV testing and information (results in 20 minutes or less), as well as answer questions about HIV prevention and treatment options, and provide referrals for PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis), FDA approved medications that are highly effective in preventing HIV, as well as Hep C and Syphilis testing. Everyone should know their HIV status. Testing is the only way.

“The HIV program at Greene County Public Health plays a vital role in reaching those in need with accessible information about the latest in HIV and STD testing, prevention, and treatment,” said Harley Dawson, Health Educator for Greene County Public Health. “Partnering once again with Walgreens strengthens our ability to help patients access the care and support they need most.”

HIV testing will be available on-site in our mobile unit, administered by trained counselors, with results available in 20 minutes or less, and is completely free of charge. Information about the latest developments in prevention, including PrEP and doxy PEP, as well as advances in treatment, will also be available.
