Cribs for Kids Pack N Play Giveaway
Greene County Public Health, in collaboration with the Ohio Department of Health and Cribs for Kids, is providing Infant Survival Kits to parents and caregivers in our community. The Infant Survival Kit includes a cribette, fitted sheet, sleep sack, and educational materials on safe sleep.
*A Cribs for Kids Pack-N-Play Giveaway will be held for Greene County residents only, on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, from 1:00 – 3:00 pm at Greene County Public Health located at 360 Wilson Drive in Xenia. To be eligible, the mother must be a Greene County resident and be at least 32 weeks pregnant or have an infant under one year of age to receive the FREE Pack-N-Play. No registration is required; walk-ins are encouraged.
In 1994, doctors began instructing new mothers to put their babies on their backs to sleep. This “Back to Sleep” campaign resulted in a drop in sudden infant death rates of 50% in the U.S., but sleep-related deaths remained the number one cause of infant deaths after the first month of age.
According to the Ohio American Academy of Pediatrics, three infants die each week in Ohio in unsafe sleep areas. Cribs for Kids seeks to reduce that number by providing WIC-eligible families and expecting mothers with a free cribette for their baby. Families will also receive important information about the ABCs of safe sleep so they can reduce their baby’s risk of a sleep-related death. These deaths are preventable by keeping in mind a few safe sleep ABCs: Babies are safest Alone, on their Back, in an empty Crib.
