Status of the WIC Program During the Government Shutdown
The following message is based on information the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) has as of Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025
The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) has received more funding to keep the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program running into November. This means local WIC offices will continue to receive funding to support their services throughout the month, allowing them to operate as usual. They will still check who qualifies, take height, weight, and blood measurements, fill out forms, and give nutrition and breastfeeding education, support, and referrals.
ODH continues to monitor food redemption daily and additional funding opportunities. At this time, all WIC participants can continue to redeem WIC food benefits as they have always done.
